I finished binding my next sketchbook; it’s a 9†x 6†landscape format book. Of course, the current sketchbook will take most of the rest of this year to finish with my current spreads. Both sketchbooks are based on the sewn boards conservation binding pioneered by Gary Frost. The front and back covers in the new book are sewn into the text block and join at the spine. I’ve folded a break away at the spine to allow the book to open and lie flat. I built it using ideas from a number of classes that I’ve taken with Karen Hanmer.
